Get involved in Contin’s Hidden History project

Contin church was founded in the 7th century CE, and it’s thought it became part of a large settlement. In September, we will be surveying the fields around the church for below-ground structures (such as building foundations) – to see if a settlement existed and how extensive it may have been. Preliminary surveys suggest there is something of significance to be discovered, and we’re hopeful this new survey will help show what may have been present many centuries ago.

On Tuesday 12th, Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th September there is an opportunity to come along and get involved with the survey and see the georesisitivity equipment used. Please get in touch with philbaarda’at’hotmail.com if you’d like to be part of the survey.

We’ll also be sharing the findings at at (free) public meeting at Contin Hall on Thursday 5th October at 7:30pm. Please come along and see part of Contin’s Hidden History!
