Speed of Traffic Through Contin and Achilty.
Contin Community Council has written to Bear Scotland regarding continuing concerns over the speed and volume of traffic through Contin and Achilty. Click here for their latest response of 11 May 22.
Contin Community Council wrote to BEAR Scotland in February 2025 asking for a 50 mph speed limit from Contin to Garve, agreed with Garve and District CC. BEAR’s response was “In 2012 a Speed Limit Review process was undertaken on the A835 between Achility to Garve. The SLR recommended retention of the National Speed Limit for this section of the A835. Since the 2012 review was undertaken there appears to have been no significant developments along the A835 since that time to justify any reappraisal. ” At least 3 people have been killed in accidents since 2016.
