Around 50 people attended our Connecting Communities events in Garve and Contin. Great to see people interested in the new community transport service.
Welcoming new members
It was fantastic to see both around 30 people at Garve’s event on Sunday, 19 January 2025 and around 20 people at Contin’s event on Saturday, 25 January 2025.
At the Garve event we were delighted to welcome Maree Todd, MSP, and Councillor Liz Kraft, both of whom are great supporters of the project. As always, special thanks to Liz and Tony from the Garve Events Group for providing a lovely lunch and helping to clear the hall afterward.
At the Contin event we were pleased to welcome Councillor Chris Birt and funder representative Carol Masheter, from SSE. A big thanks goes out to Susan Kirkness from Bruach Bakery for a lovely lunch and big thank to Liz Kerr from CJT Projects for helping out at the event (not forgetting the lovely Ollie who kept us all entertained).
Both events kicked off at 1pm with refreshments, creating a wonderful atmosphere for people to come together and chat. Ewan welcomed everyone in attendance and outlined the programme, which included an invitation to grab some lunch while he provided an update on the project so far: –
- We have appointed a mini-bus driver who lives locally, Mark Watson
- We have taken receipt of the interim mini-bus from The Highland Council.
- Ultimately we will have a 7 seater Ford Tourneo EV and the The Highland Council will provide a 5 Seater seater Ford Connect Tourneo with a wheel chair ramp enabaling accessible travel when needed.
- Initially, we will run the service 3 days per week – Wednesday to Friday.
- Journeys will cost £4 return within the main zone (G&D, Contin, Jamestown and Tarvie) £6 return from the main zone to Strathpepher/Dingwall and £10 return to Inverness.
- We are are also planning a scheduled service on a Wednesday with a short stay of around 2 hours in Dingwall for shopping or any other activity passengers want to do. You can of course be picked up from your home or on route within the main zone and dropped off at the end of your journey at a place of your choice!
